What You'll Do

As a PPAP Engineer, working within the Quality Department at Enstall, you will have the primary task of performing First Article Inspections (FAIs) on pre-production parts. This position requires experience working within a quality laboratory using specialized equipment to measure, inspect, and confirm production part compliance with Engineering drawings. The PPAP Engineer must have the ability to identify opportunities for part measurability improvement and to give recommendations as necessary to the internal design team.

  • Review and evaluate First Article Inspections (FAIs) provided from various Suppliers and determine whether parts are meeting requirements.
  • Measure and evaluate quality of pre-production sample products using manual measurement tools including calipers, depth gauges, pin gauges, micrometers, etc.
  • Measure and evaluate quality of pre-production sample products using laboratory equipment including: Keyence IM-7000 series optical comparator; Keyence XM series handheld CMM; Keyence VHX series digital microscope; Keyence VL-700 series 3D scanner; and SPECTRO xSORT handheld spectrometer.
  • Maintain and improve the quality lab workflow to increase efficiency and productivity.
  • Maintain equipment calibration records and coordinate annual 3rd party calibrations.
  • Work with internal testing group to evaluate, analyze, and present data and recommendations for product improvements to extended project team.
  • Evaluate importance of various design elements with familiarity of GD&T practices.
  • Work with others to investigate quality concerns identified by customers and complete investigations and corrective/preventive action plans as necessary.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Quality, Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Materials Engineering.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in PPAP-related role
  • Experience using stated equipment types strongly preferred
  • Ability to effectively interact and collaborate with individuals of varying technical acumen within the organization
  • Strong work experience using Cloud-based systems, document control systems and MS Office Suite, including Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills; ability to take complex data sets, standards, and analysis and present to target audiences.
  • Analytical, organized, self-motivated and can prioritize effectively; ability to work independently as well as with others
  • Extremely detail-oriented and able to follow steps without deviating
  • Project management skills such as developing, overseeing and following timelines as well as tracking quality requirements and deliverables
  • Self-starter that is continually striving to learn and grow professionally
  • 10% to 15% business travel to domestic geographies

Where You'll Be Located

This is a on-site position (4-5 days/week in the office) and will be based out of our Hayward, CA office.

What We’ll Offer

We offer competitive compensation determined by each individual's relevant experience, skills, education and location. We anticipate the base salary for this position to be between $75,000 and $95,000 annually, if located in the San Francisco Bay Area market. In addition to base salary, Enstall employees are eligible for either an annual bonus or commission, depending on their position. If your desired salary falls outside of these rates, we hope you'll still apply as there may be other positions that better align.
