What You'll Do
Enstall is seeking a highly motivated, seasoned, and multifaceted NPI Engineer with the right blend of knowledge and experience in mechanical metal fabricated products. The ideal candidate to have extensive knowledge of cold forming, die casting, metal stamping, roll forming, aluminum extrusion, injection molding, mechanical assembly & packaging solutions.
The NPI Engineer will be the key technical liaison between suppliers and the Enstall US Product Development & Innovation teams and will be responsible for DFM (Design for Manufacturing) activities including identifying, evaluating, qualifying, integrating, scaling & maintaining manufacturing solutions & resources required for new product launch, existing product enhancement & relocation of manufacturing projects within the Enstall global supply chain.
The NPI Engineer will actively engage with and support NPI Sourcing Managers and other Engineering Teams to facilitate early supplier involvement during new product introduction, and throughout the product life cycle. Identify supplier innovation, provide procurement direction to the engineering teams to support opportunities for lower total cost. Proactively seek new technologies and offer these technologies as solutions where appropriate and participate to qualify and develop suppliers in accordance with the global sourcing strategy.
- Take part in product concept reviews & down selection. Identify, recommend and document ideal manufacturing solutions, lean processes, techniques & technologies.
- Take part in detailed design reviews and lead DFM process of top concept. Review supplier DFM feedback, analyze, summarize, and present to extended team.
- Support design & quality lead in DFMEA completion; Lead & complete pilot build & support the supplier quality engineering in PFMEA.
- Identify tooling & overall production resources needed to meet design & volumes requirements.
- Production planning support. Work woth Supply Operations and Sourcing Managers to ensure suppliers meet BU expectations with lead times and on-time deliveries.
- Design, develop and present manufacturing automation proposals, and working with suppliers on the implementation of automation technologies.
- Develop tooling & process qualification, ramp up, maintenance & replacement plans. Own TSRA (Tooling & Sample Release Authorization) and PRA (Production Release Authorization) processes. Lead & complete qualification via FA review & approval.
- Create, document & implement assembly, packaging & other work instructions, and process maps. Drive designs/processes/packaging to be carbon-neutral (“green”).
- Support supplier assessment, selection and on boarding. Research new technologies with potential to enhance existing product offerings or that could provide new avenues for product solutions.
- Evaluate feasibility and facilitate the implementation of supplier developed solutions & content in Enstall product offerings.
- Facilitate and lead Value Analysis and Value Engineering (VA/VE) processes.
- Facilitate and lead root cause problem investigation and resolution through design prevention.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve supplier productivity/quality and ensure supply chain continuity.
- Lead or participate in the development and maintenance of supplier process development, supplier scorecards and supplier evaluation.
- Develop and maintain tracking or other systems to allow for efficient status reporting capability. Manage NPI engineering activity coordination and processes relating to new product development, including leading or participating in supplier selection, capability assessment, supplier readiness.
- Solid working knowledge of 3D Modeling and drawing development and interpretation.
- Capable of efficiently integrating existing manufacturing methods with new innovations.
- Travel 25%-40% of the time domestically or internationally.
- Working proficiency in Spanish, Vietnamese, Mandarin and/ or Cantonese a plus. Ability to read, write and translate between the languages and communicate effectively.
What You'll Bring
- Must have hands on experience working with aluminum Extrusion, Casting, Forging, Roll Forming, Machining, Stamping, Assembly & Injection Molding.
- Experience with Cold Forming, particularly fasteners and hardware
- Hands on working experience working with US suppliers, is a big plus.
- Three-to-five-year experience in fast paced product development cycle & manufacturing.
- Experience with performing Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA) & other Six Sigma & Lean problem solving, risk mitigation best practices.
- Experience with Value Stream Mapping & Value Engineering.
- Project Management certification (PMP) or project management training is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Solid working knowledge of 3D Modeling, drawing development and interpretation.
- Must be able to travel 25%-40% of the time to domestic and international sources.
- B.S. in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Materials Engineering. MS degree is a plus.
- SolidWorks working knowledge, with product and packaging design and verification.
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Advanced Excel skills for data analysis, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills in English; ability to present data sets to target audiences clearly and methodically.
- Project Management certification (PMP) or project management training.
Where You'll Be Located
This is a hybrid position (2 days/week in the office, or more when business needs dictate) and will be based in any of our main office locations (North Andover, MA, Hayward, CA or Phoenix, AZ).
What We’ll Offer
We offer competitive compensation determined by each individual's relevant experience, skills, education and location. We anticipate the base salary for this position to be between $100,000 and $120,000 annually, if located in the San Francisco Bay Area market. In addition to base salary, Enstall employees are eligible for either an annual bonus or commission, depending on their position. If your desired salary falls outside of these rates, we hope you'll still apply as there may be other positions that better align.
